Numbness

Many people described their feeling as zombie-like,
or encased in cotton - wool or in a tunnel and very distant from
others. This is confirmed in Jones (1995). They are likely to function
perfectly adequately at a routine job, yet feel dissociated. The
dominant thought will be that it cannot be true, and maybe someone
has made a mistake. There may be actual physical manifestations
of shock, such as loss of appetite, inability to concentrate or
remember things.
