Ovulation Induction
|
| Ovulation induction (OI) to be used only in PCOS patients seeking pregnancy. Obviously other causes of infertility should be excluded before starting treatment with OI medications. According to each case, the physician may start OI as a primary treatment or following a coarse of other treatment modalities such as suppression of ovulation using oral contraceptive pills or insulin sensitising medication. OI may be used in combination with other treatment modalities such as insulin sensitisers, corticosteroids or weight control measures. OI should only be prescribed to PCOS who will follow close follow up during the treatment cycles. Ultrasound monitoring is the minimal requirements in these cases. |
