Conclusion
|
| PCOS is a disease characterized by menstrual irregularities, infrequent ovulatory cycles or none at all, obesity, hirsutism, acne, and infertility. The diagnosis is based on clinical presentation together with the confirmatory ultrasound and hormone assay findings. The treatment of PCOS is mainly medical correction of the high LH levels. Ovulation induction may be resorted to with caution in cases seeking pregnancy. Surgical treatment whenever feasible should be very limited to medical treatment failures and after proper counseling of the patient. |
