The Process of Normal Ovulation
|
| Now what really is the underlying mechanism that leads to all these disorders and group them together? Well putting it in a simple fashion is starting the story from where it should start. What happens in normal cycles? The brains controls everything as usual. A specialised part below the brain called the Hypothalamus secretes hormones - releasing hormones. These hormones control the function of a specialised gland within the skull called the Pituitary Gland. According to a certain rhythm of releasing hormones, the pituitary gland secretes specialised hormones that interacts with the ovary to control its cycle - the ovarian cycle. This cycle is responsible for the formation and maturation of the oocyte (egg)as well as the secretion of the specific female hormone in a cyclic fashion that affects the uterus, breast, sexual and behavioural performance. |
