PCOS is a female disturbing disease
|
| It is unacceptable for a young girl to have hirsutism. In fact it is unacceptable for all females. Facial hair growth is disfiguring even after its removal. Feeling this alienation, the female may think of covering these areas and you find a great number of them veiled. In addition PCOS causes specific body and face adiposity that is sort of characteristic of the disease. Trunkal obesity with gross breasts (in young girls) make them different from their cohorts. They starts to feel unfeminine, self conscious and less attractive to boys. They cannot even discuss the matter with their fellow girls and pretend to have regular cycles (inspite of being amenorrhoeic). Their parents become rather worried themselves. They can see that their daughter is different from her sisters and cousins. They may be the ones that will seek medical advice. In older girls about to or seeking marriage the worries become more intense and the patient becomes even more self conscious. They may then seek medical advice. They are worried about their looks as well as their future fertility. This specifies the role of the physician to reassure the patient as well as her parents in addition to the treatment the condition. |
